Mark George

Mark R. George is President and CEO of Norfolk Southern Corporation, a leading freight transportation provider serving the majority of the U.S. population and manufacturing base. Under his leadership, the company emphasizes operational excellence and customer-centric innovation, moving approximately 7 million carloads annually and helping customers avoid 15 million tons of carbon emissions each year.

With over 30 years of experience in financial management and strategy, George previously served as Norfolk Southern's Chief Financial Officer after joining the company in 2019. Before that, he held key leadership roles at United Technologies Corporation and its subsidiaries, including Global CFO for Otis Elevator and Carrier Corporation.

George serves on the boards of Trane Technologies and Junior Achievement of Georgia. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Central Connecticut State University and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
